Take control Flight Simulators

Put yourself in the shoes of a helicopter pilot

Flight Simulators of the Complexe Capitale Hélicoptère

Who hasn’t dreamed of flying ? Flight simulators at the Complexe Capitale Hélicoptère allow you to get into the shoes of a helicopter pilot for a few minutes and fly above Quebec , Las Vegas, and more!

Both simulators use the Microsoft FLIGHT SIMULATOR X GOLD EDITION game. One of the simulators was even custom programmed to faithfully represent the Jean Lesage International Airport of Quebec City as well as the Complexe Capitale Hélicoptère. Indeed, it took Gilles Boily, simulation games passionate for many years, three years to complete the reconstruction of Quebec Airport (YQB) on the simulator, and also the Complexe Capitale Hélicoptère. (He estimates that the Complexe alone took around 40 hours.) It is also important to specify that the work is still in progress, as it follows the evolution of the airport. Realism is impressive because all the buildings are present, as well as roads and runaways.

The six 46 » screens definitely give the desired effect when it comes to the realism of the vision inside the cockpit. The Recaro seat, and the collective, cyclic, pedals, as well as the dashboard, actually adds the effect of really being in control.

To control the helicopter is not easy ! It takes a little practice, otherwise you will end up on the ground or in the St. Lawrence River ! But do not worry, as employees of the Complexe Capitale Hélicoptère are there to guide you and to help you get used to the controls to ensure the best possible experience. Whether you are a beginner or professional, you’ll like the simulator, since you can adjust the difficulty by choosing the type of aircraft, or by trying to achieve a specific mission such as landing on a boat on the River or try to save a wounded hiker on the Mont Saint-Anne and bring him to the Enfant-Jesus Hospital.

When programming the custom simulator for the Complexe, Mr. Boily shares that the biggest challenge was to meet the time constraint. He is a perfectionist, so he wanted everything to be perfect. However, he adds that the motivation was there, especially since it is a very concrete project for the Complexe and himself being an avid fan of aviation, he was very excited by the project. Mr. Boily has a pilot license for airplanes and although he no longer has his own plane, that he built himself, he continues to fly around the world with its own flight simulator.

What are you waiting for! Come to the Complexe and take control of a helicopter to fly above the Frontenac Castle and other wonders that the world has to offer!
