A huge success for the Grand opening of the Complexe Capitale Hélicoptère in Quebec City
More than 1,200 people saw Quebec City from a helicopter, for free
Quebec City, April 22, 2014 – The Complexe Capitale Hélicoptère’s grand opening this weekend was a resounding success. More than 15,000 people came through our doors to view the facilities and take part in a range of activities. Over 1,200 people – mostly children – had a chance to board one of our helicopters and enjoy a tour of Quebec City at absolutely no charge.
“My sincere thanks to residents of both Quebec City and the surrounding area for visiting the Complexe Capitale Hélicoptère over Easter weekend. Your amazement at our infrastructure and appreciation of our services are the culmination of prodigious efforts and a monumental task, spanning two years, to make this complex a world-class tourist destination,” declared Stephan Huot, owner of the complex and president of Le Groupe Huot.
President and CEO Gabriel Savard saw the presence of so many visitors from all over Quebec as a tremendous honour. This level of interest shows how important the Complexe is to the tourism industry. “The official opening of the Complexe Capitale Hélicoptère in Quebec City supports Vision 2020, the tourism development strategy that anticipates the advent of niche products in a constantly evolving industry,” he asserted.
The Discovery Space in the Complexe Capitale Hélicoptère lets visitors test their skills on high-performance flight simulators, enjoy displays featuring a number of helicopters and learn more about the helicopter universe. This location is also a suitable venue for corporate events and, with its 1000-plus-capacity distinctively purposed seating, it can meet business tourism demand as well.
Helicopter tours offering a view of Quebec City from above can be enjoyed through GoHelico, and our specialized boutique features an exclusive collection of locally designed clothing for helicopter pilots and aviation enthusiasts, which is also available to the general public.
This new complex is also home to the corporate headquarters of Capitale Hélicoptère, a specialist in aerial work within North America. It also features a multiservice heliport and an interior hangar, with corporate and personalized concierge service, for the exclusive use of helicopter owners.
The complex also houses the best flight school in Quebec (2014 recipient of the AQTA’s Trophée Roland-Simard) and an Airmedic base for emergency medical evacuations. To complete the experience, a trendy restaurant-bar will soon be up and running.
Construction of the Complexe Capitale Hélicoptère represents a $22-million investment and led to the creation of more than 150 permanent jobs in the Quebec City area.
